Green Montenegro IFF<\/strong> is the only film festival in Montenegro dedicated to environmental protection, held regularly since 2015. Over time, it has become recognized as a center of the country\u2019s ecological identity, as well as a unique platform for filmmakers from Montenegro, the region, and the world.<\/p>

This year\u2019s 12th edition of the festival will take place from August 1st to 3rd<\/strong> in one of Europe\u2019s most beautiful natural areas (UNESCO World Heritage List, 1980) \u2013 Durmitor National Park<\/strong>, right next to Crno Jezero (Black Lake)<\/strong>, in the municipality of \u017dabljak. The film program will be held under a starry sky, in a fragrant pine forest, with wireless headphones and screenings on a large LED screen, offering the unique Open-air Cinema<\/strong> GMIFF experience.<\/p>

GMIFF is also the only festival in Montenegro that has permission from the Environmental Protection Agency<\/strong> to hold its activities in national parks, thanks to its responsible approach to the environment in which it takes place, as well as the low carbon footprint it leaves behind.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

In 2024,<\/strong> at the 10th jubilee edition of GMIFF,<\/strong> we introduced an innovation in Montenegro for the first time\u2014wireless headphones <\/strong>\u2014allowing the audience to enjoy high-quality audiovisual productions while preserving the sensitive and precious biodiversity of Durmitor National Park.<\/strong> This demonstrated that protecting the natural environment from noise, light, and other forms of pollution is indeed possible.<\/p>

We proudly highlight that GMIFF has been included on the map of eco-friendly festivals<\/strong> by the Green Film Network<\/strong>, ranking among the top 31 environmental film festivals in the world.<\/strong><\/p>

The festival is organized by CEZAM Production LLC<\/strong> and the NGO Center for Multimedia Production.<\/strong> It enjoys continuous and crucial support<\/strong> from the relevant ministries for culture and ecology, the Film Centre of Montenegro<\/strong>, the Municipality of \u017dabljak<\/strong>, as well as numerous festival partners and friends.<\/p>

Last year\u2019s edition of the festival was opened by Damjan \u0106ulafi\u0107<\/strong>, Minister of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Northern Development.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

The year before, the festival was opened by Montenegrin actress Dubravka Draki\u0107<\/strong>. In previous years, the festival was opened by German Oscar winner Peter (Pepe) Danquart<\/strong> (Academy Award for the film Black Rider, 1994), who, in addition to the screening of the mentioned film, also held a masterclass on the topic \u201cCinematography in the Service of Ecology,\u201d as well as director Branko Baleti\u0107<\/strong>, former Presidents of the Parliament of Montenegro Aleksa Be\u010di\u0107 and Ivan Brajovi\u0107<\/strong>, former Head of the UN system in Montenegro<\/p>

Fiona McCluney, Prince Nikola Petrovi\u0107,<\/strong> and other prominent figures from the fields of ecology, film, and public life.<\/strong><\/p>

We are honored to highlight that previous editions of our festival have hosted renowned figures from arts, culture, and environmental activism<\/strong>\u2014not only from Montenegro and the region<\/strong> but also from numerous European and global countries<\/strong>, including Italy, Switzerland, South Korea, Germany, Spain, France, and beyond.<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
