Andro Martinović was born in 1977. He is an associate at the Montenegrin Academy of Sciences and Arts. He is an associate professor at the Film and Media study programme at the University of Donja Gorica. He was the director and programme editor at the Montenegrin Cinematheque. He is the editor of the book ‘Montenegro Cinematographers 1908-1914’, the bio bibliography of the director Živko Nikolić and the film script translation of ‘Resurrection does not happen without death’ (Voskresenja ne biva bez smrti). He is the author of short films selected for the official programme of more than twenty prestigious international festivals. He was awarded the Golden Plaque of Belgrade for the film ‘Untouched by the Sun’ (Netaknuti suncem). The film ‘Masks’ (Maske) was added to the European Short Film Tour and presented in more than thirty countries. He is the co-author of the documentary ‘Montenegro and the Great War’ (Crna Gora i Veliki rat), which was awarded the Special Prize at the Timeless Film Festival in Warsaw. The debut feature film ‘Between Day and Night’ (Između dana i noći) premiered as part of the competition programme of the 42nd Montreal International Film Festival (2018) and was part of thirty international festivals. He was presented with the ‘Milovan Đilas’ award for the best essay in 2023. He is currently working on a film about Vojo Stanić – ‘Stanić, the century’ (Stanić, stoljeće), and is preparing a short film ‘At noon – the rifle’ (U podne puška).
