Sead Šabotić

Sead Šabotić, film director and screenwriter, was born in Nikšić, Montenegro. He enrolled in and completed his studies in Film and TV Directing at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts, University of Montenegro, where he also completed postgraduate specialist studies specializing in Documentary Film. After completing his specialist studies, he enrolled in and completed a Master’s degree at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts, University of Arts in Belgrade. He is currently a PhD candidate at the Faculty of Arts, University of Donja Gorica. He is an alumnus of the EX-Oriente Film Workshop, Sarajevo Talents, Talents Tehran within the Fajr International Film Festival, and the Beldocs Academy program. He has directed several short documentary and fiction films, as well as the feature-length documentaries Twins Woven from Dreams and Once Upon a Family. His films have been screened and awarded at film festivals and showcases around the world. He currently works as a teaching associate at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts. He served as the selector of the Documentary Competition Program at the Herceg Novi Film Festival – Montenegro Film Festival in 2022 and 2023. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Montenegrin Society of Independent Writers and a member of Matica crnogorska.
