The Drežnica goat is critically endangered. Along with the goat, the only Indigenous Slovenian breed that reigns on the steep slopes of Northern Primorska, the nation’s biodiversity is at risk, as well as the local area’s ethnographic, cultural, and spiritual heritage. The film showcases never-before-seen documentary footage of goats in their natural habitat on the inaccessible Alpine cliffs, along with the stories of locals who strive to avert the inevitable.

Marko Kumer Murč
Marko Kumer Murč (1980) is a Slovenian director and producer whose films explore environmental, social, and cultural issues. He regularly participates in international workshops and festivals and is known for combining poetic imagery with pointed social commentary. His documentary films include Utopia and Green (co-director, 2013), 62.a (2021), The Other Side of the Pipe (2024), and Drežnica Goat and Her People (2025). He’s also the founder of the production companies EnaBanda and Rusaalka and the initiator of the “Kratka scena” screenwriting
