Susanne Maria Krauß was born in Upper Franconia in 1981 and now works as a journalist, author, and filmmaker for the German public television channels MDR, BR, SWR, and ZDF as well as for the European Cultural Channel ARTE, amongst others. She studied journalism and sociology in Leipzig and lived in DR Congo and Rwanda for several years. Her first long documentary “Gorillas under Stress” was created there and attracted international attention in 2019/2020. In the field of nature and animal films, she is particularly interested in the fact that humans and animals share the same habitat on this planet, with serious effects on their relationship and exciting questions to be asked about the future. She is happy when film projects bring her back to the African continent – but also while walking through German forests with her dog in gentle sunshine.
